Bio
In 2003, the world met a tie-wearing, middle-finger-throwing teenager named Avril Lavigne, and nothing was the same. Let Go was released. Avril ascended to pop punk royalty. And then… the internet did what the internet does best. According to one of the most brain-bending conspiracy theories of the 2000s, Avril died at the peak of her fame and the label swapped her out with a body double lookalike named Melissa Vandella. They say she was trained. Conditioned. Rebranded. Re-released. Handwriting changed. Moles disappeared. Facial structure shifted. Even the voice sounded different.
Coincidence? Or the greatest pop-punk twist of all time? After hours of highly unqualified research, we reached a shocking, absolutely anticlimactic conclusion: Avril is very obviously Avril.
But in trying to "find" her, we actually found Melissa! "Wanna start a band?" we asked. She said yes. Melissa & the Black Stars - A conspiracy core tribute to the reigning Punk Rock Princess herself.
Melissa is not Avril. Avril has always been and always will be… Avril. If the internet is going to create an alternate reality, we figured we might as well build a stage inside of it. Still suspicious? Come see for yourself.
